Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! Sorry for the lack of updates recently, we've been busy with day jobs, the holidays, and planning our upcoming honeymoon, not to mention all the comics we're working on for 2013. We're excited to finish up some of these comics and hopefully start releasing them over the next few months. Meanwhile, we wish everyone a happy and prosperous 2013!

Here's a preview of the colored cover and some (non-sequential) pages from my next comic, a pirate revenge tale called Rainbowbeard, which will be debuting at the Emerald City Comic Con in March.

Small Update

We've been so consumed with our recent convention schedule and our day jobs, that we forgot to mention a couple cool pieces of news.

During the Long Beach Comic Con we were lucky enough to be interviewed for Bleeding Cool. The site did a number of interviews with indie creators in artist alley. We thought it was very cool of the reporter to focus on self-published creators and we definitely recommend checking out those series of interviews. Here is our piece and another one done with our tablemate, Jared.

Also, a little while back the fine folks over at the Comic Book of the Month Podcast did an Alternative Press Expo episode which included reviews of both Clown Fight and Pluto Moon Base. It's the first anyone has ever talked about our work on a podcast before, so it was a little strange to listen to it at first but the hosts were very kind with their reviews. You can check out the episode and blog post HERE to see what they said about our books and a ton of other great comics from this year's APE.

Long Beach Comic Con 2012: It's a Wrap!

Long Beach Horror & Comic Con has ended and so has our convention season :'(  In our first year of exhibiting we managed to table at six shows. While that might not seem like a lot, it sure does feel it! Going all the way back to February when we tabled at our first show, LA Zine Fest, we were nervous. We had no idea what we were doing and didn't know any of the other creators. And now, ten months later, we couldn't be more excited to go to shows, see familiar friendly faces and show off our comics. A huge thanks to all the great people we've met this year, you've made this an experience that we won't soon forget. We look forward to more good times next year!

New Online Store

We've just finished setting up our new online store over at Big Cartel. For the past year we've been using Etsy in the hopes that people who casually browsed through that site might happen upon our books and pick one up on a whim. Unfortunately, that very rarely happened. So instead of paying Etsy's (all be it low) fees, we decided to just use a free online store front service. We've come across many other comic creators who use Big Cartel and thought we'd give it a try. So, here it is:

Long Beach Comic Con Nov. 3&4

The Long Beach Comic Con is coming up this weekend! It's our last show of what has been a really exciting year for us. We've attended every year of the Long Beach Comic Con since its inception and have enjoyed ourselves each time. The show is a nice, manageable size with a good variety of publishers, creators and vendors all in a hassle-free location (a.k.a. easy to park!). So it should be fun to be on the opposite side of the table this time around. If you're planning to attend, please stop by and say hi to us at Table 1406.

APE 2012 Recap

The 2012 version of the Alternative Press Expo has come and gone, but it was without a doubt one of the most fun shows we've done so far. APE has a wonderfully upbeat vibe, coming from all the amazingly creative artists who exhibit, that makes the show feel unlike any other around. Last year we scoped out the expo as attendees and had such a blast we were super stoked to exhibit there for the first time. APE did not disappoint. We managed to catch up with old friends and make new ones. We saw a lot of great artwork and bought a lot of great comics!

On Saturday night after the show, we managed to make it out to the Cartoon Art Museum for the Los Bros Hernandez art gallery showing. There were a good number of pages from the brothers, but also a lot of incredible pieces from other great cartoonists.

All in all it was a fun weekend! We're really hoping to exhibit at APE again next year, but we'll just have to see if that'll be doable when we also want to try out some other conventions (travel can be darn expensive!) For now, we have the Long Beach Comic Con next up on the schedule. We've attended every year of that show and enjoyed each time, but again it'll be our first time exhibiting. It's a semi-local show for us, so it'll be nice to catch up with other SoCal comic folk and close out our first convention-going year in style!

We're going APE!

This weekend the Ginger crew will be headed to San Fran to setup for A.P.E. We're excited to return to a great city and great expo. We heard there's an exhibitor mixer on Friday and we'll try our damnest to make it. But otherwise, hopefully we'll see some old and new faces come by our table. We're at Booth 915 on the right hand side of the exhibit hall. Free high fives for all!
